The month of Ramadan is over, and the Eid has arrived at last! The Eid is the feast, which all the children have been waiting for.

On the day of Eid .Ammar woke up early and took a good shower. Then he put on his new clothes and combed his hair.

On the morning of Eid-al-fitr, Ammar greeted his parents and kissed them. His parents hugged him and wished him a Happy Eid. Then, Ammar went to his friends Zeinah and Antar to greet them also on the morning of the Eid. They thanked him and admired his new clothes.

Ammar asked his parents to let him go to the playground.

‘’You can go,” his mother said. “But be careful not to eat any bad food and stay away from fireworks.”

When Ammar, Zeinah and Antar reached the playground, they saw many colorful ribbons and decorations everywhere. All the children were dressed in their bright new clothes .

There were children everywhere, smiling and greeting each other happily . Ammar met his friends and wished everyone a happy Eid.

Antar was excited. “The Eid is really something beautiful !” he said. “I Wish everyday was the Eid.”

They all laughed. Then, they asked Ammar to go with them to the playground.

But Ammar was worried that his friend Majid had not come to the playground.

“I haven’t seen Majid, today!” Ammar told his friends. “Let’s go and see him. Maybe he’s sick.”

They all agreed and went to visit Majid .

Ammar knocked on the door softly. Majid opened the door. He stood there wearing some old clothes with a sad look of his face .

“Why didn’t you come to the playground, today?” Ammar asked his friend.

“Because I don’t have any new clothes for the Eid.”

Then he rushed inside to hide the tears that began to fall from his eyes .

Everyone became very sad. They all felt sorry for Majid.

“Why don’t you help Majid to make him feel happy ?” Zeinah suggested.

“We want him to share joys of Eid with us, don’t we ?”

“Well, I don’t have enough money to buy him some new clothes.” said Ammar .

“If all of you put your money together , it will be enough to buy him some new clothes.” Zeinah said.

Everyone felt this was a very good idea. So, they all reached into their pockets and gave whatever money they had to Ammar.

Ammar took the money and

went back home. He found his father and said, “Dad, I need to buy some more new clothes.”

His father was surprised. “Why?” he asked. “And where did you get this money?”

Ammar told his father the story about poor Majid who did not have any money to buy new clothes.

Ammar’s father was proud of what his son wanted to do for Majid .

He went with Ammar to buy a new suit. Ammar took it and hurried back to his friends. They gave the new suit to Majid. Their friend was so happy!

When Ammar went home and his father told him,

“Take this money and give it back to your friends. I paid for Majid’s suit myself . Now,

you can go with your friends to the amusement park.

“But it’s too late now.” said Antar.

“I think you’ve done something for which you will be greatly rewarded by Allah the Almighty.” Ammar’s father said. “So, tomorrow I will take you all to the amusement park, Allah willing, ( in sha’a Allah ).”

Ammar , Zeinah and Antar all thrilled.

“I will give my friends their money back.” Ammar said. “And tomorrow we shall all go to the amusement park, in sha’a Allah. We will also take Majid with us.”

“Excellent,” Ammar’s father commented.

The next day, Ammar and his friends went to the amusement park with Majid.

They played all day and had lots of fun. In the evening they went home very happy.

After Ammar, Zeinah and Antar had finished their dinner, Ammar turned to his father and asked. “Why do people celebrate Eid?”

“It’s the festival of Breaking the Fast ( Eidul-l-fitr ).” his father replied.

“It falls on the first day of Shawal every Muslim year. All Muslim celebrate it because they have fulfilled their obligations of fasting towards Allah.”

“It’s really a great day, Dad !!” Ammar said .

“Yes, my son,” his father replied. “But don’t forget that Eid is a time for Muslims to visit each other and exchange good wishes. This strengthens the brotherhood and love between them.”

Then Zeinah said, “During the Eid, even the poor and needy are happy because Muslims pay their fitr charity to them. Some of them also help by giving their Muslim bother’s clothes , money and food.”

“That’s right, Zeinah.” Ammar’s father said. “It’s a joyful time for all Muslims!”
